Next Gen Iphone photo Leaked

9to5Mac have received a few hi-resolution photos of the back of the next gen iphone. The picture above shows the two colored iphone side by side. On the back of the next gen iphone there are two colors; the upper and lower part are darker colors whereas the middle part is where the lighter colors are. From the picture above the body of the phone seems to be molded with the back of the phone. These could just be apple's way of the unibody enclosure. The unibody enclosure poses a function to be thinner and lighter, yet being stronger devices. Again from the picture we can clearly see that the rumored mini dock connector is present and situated below the phone is the microphone jack; as you can see the speakers have been redesigned and have a flat bottom. The camera in the other hand looks like it is in the same position but next to it there is a microphone; the LED flash has also been moved a bit.
This next picture shows us the inside and front panel of the next gen iphone. As you can see the front panel matches the one we saw earlier but the only thing different is that the front facing camera is situated above the earpiece. One thing is missing is the edge-to-edge technology which is something like a super slim bezel. Finally micro sim technology is still present.

What Happens When The Galaxy S III Drops Face Down

As many of you know the galaxy s iii is using corning's gorilla glass 2. The only difference between gorilla glass 2 and its predecessor is that gorilla glass 2 is 20% thinner, with the same strenght. Gorilla glass have been used in many products such as the asus transformer prime, hp spectre and many more smart devices. Somebody sent a tip to Phonearena saying that the gorilla glass in the samsung galaxy s iii is not that tough. It seems that the owner of the phone learned the hard way that gorilla glass is no indestructible. The smartphone fell out of his pocket face-down and this resulted the screen on the galaxy s iii to crack. So the lesson taught here is you must  take good care of your phone even if it has scratch-resistant display or you might have to suffer the same fate as this owner who now has to spend $350 on repair fees in order to get the broken display fixed.

Phone Tech Update [Ep 2]

first up in news this week is that apple is now introducing the 'Free App of The Week'. This segment is started with the Cut the rope: Experiments and all of the download fees will be paid by apple. These free app of the week are indeed the full version of the games which starts at a price of 99C. This idea is about the same as amazon's free app of the day for its android app store. This message was sent out through twitter via the official app store twitter account.

If you are planning to buy a samsung Galaxy Tab and you heard reviews saying that it is not that good. Think again, samsung is giving each samsung galaxy tab 2 with a free 1 year 50gb dropbox storage. Although this dosen't give you the two year subscription like the galaxy s III does but it still gives you 1 year subscription, which is pretty much enough. But if you decide to keep on using it for one more year you will still get 2+gb of storage, and for the subsequent year    you will get 3gb  of storage. Therefore if you like to keep things online this is the tablet which will give you that advantage.

If you live in london and pre-oredered a galaxy s III, you can stand a chance to win tickets to the 2012 olympics. The first 50 people to collect their galaxy s III at Samsung's retail store in the new shopping mall at Westfield Stratford City, London. It will be launched there starting 29th May at 6 PM. Samsung is not only giving free tickets to the olympics but they are also giving to sponsored athletes, a limited edition version of the Samsung Galaxy S III with Visa's payWave app pre-installed, which will help the athletes make payments with their phone.

VIRTUS chipset has 2 gigabit transfer speeds

Transfer technology in computers have been growing from usb to now the revolutionary thunderbolt I/O, but transfer technology in mobile devices hasn't changed much. scientists at the  Nanyang Technological University and A*STAR’s Institute for Infocomm Research has jointly developed a wireless millimeter-wave (mm-wave) technology called VIRTUS. This chip is reportedly capable of transferring large volumes of data with a speed of 2 gigabits per second, which is equivalent to 1000 times the transfer speed of bluetooth.
“The demand for ultra high-speed wireless connectivity has fuelled the need for faster data transfer rates. Unfortunately, current technologies are unable to meet these stringent demands,” Professor Yeo Kiat Seng, the principal investigator of the project and Associate Chair of Research at NTU’s School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, said in a statement. “The NTU-I2R team, being at the cutting edge of research and development, has successfully demonstrated an integrated 60 GHz chipset for multi-gigabits per second wireless transmission.”
The millimeter-wave technology is capable of transferring large volumes of data with a very low power consumption and operates at a range between 30 and 300 gigahertz. chips built with this technology are geared towards low powered devices such as tablets and smartphones. This technology is not only able to transmit and recieve data to mobile devices but it also works with projectors, televisions, computers, as well as some other devices. The virtus chipset is developed using this technology. The people over at Nanyang Technological University and A*STAR’s Institute for Infocomm Research developed this chip with three components; an antena, a fully radio-frequency transceiver as well as a baseband processor. The Nanyang Technological University developed the full radio-frequency transceiver and A*STAR’s Institute for Infocomm Research developed the baseband processor. By connecting the antena to the transceiver, this chip is capable of filtering and amplifying signals. With that the chip is able to achieve low power consumption by passing signals to the baseband processor, which conducts non-linear analog signal processing and digital parallel processing using decoder architecture. VIRTUS is built with an integrated low-power 60 GHz chipset, a reported first of its kind and the VIRTUS chipset holds 16 international patents. In tests done by Nanyang Technological University and A*STAR’s Institute for Infocomm Research the chipset was able to transfer a two hour (8 GB) DVD movie in just 30 seconds, whereas bluetooth would need to take approximately 8.5 hours to transfer that data. In order to do that it is required that all devices has the same technology to communicate with each other.

Yahoo Axis

Yahoo has just released its first browser/search engine. This is a software which is available on windows and IOS currently. On the desktop side yahoo axis is located below of your browser provided you install the plugin which is available for internet explorer, mozilla firefox, safari and google chrome. Within using this app on the ipad for almost 2 hours i feel that it is a very good product and have some room for improvements. The plugin on both desktop or ios device is pretty simple to use, it is basically a hybrid search which gives you some recommendations as you type as well as some visual looks of the sites.
As you can see from the image yahoo axis gives you  the trending articles
Yahoo axis gives you a visual look to the pages, you can also scroll to the right to see more You can always hide the search menu by sliding it up, and to reveal the search bar simply slide the menu bar down
As you can see browsing on the yahoo axis looks pretty sleek
Going back to the desktop plugin you can virtually search some info about something on yahoo axis without even leaving the website you are browsing. This may just be the thing which gives yahoo back its former success, only time will tell. But to my perspective this is going to be a very successful product. to learn more head on to the yahoo axis page.

World's Lightest notebook to be unveiled by Gigabyte on 31st of May

Gigabyte is going to unveil the world's lightest notebook in the world one week from now which is the 31st of May in Taipei. Although this laptop is unveiled about one week before Computex, this notebook might just featured on their keynote in computex or even their booth. The main details of this notebook is it being light, the description states that they are using the 6th element of the periodic table which is carbon. This gives us a hint that maybe the notebook will feature a carbon fiber shell like the base of the XPS 13 ultabook. This notebook is named X11 which points to an 11 inch screen. The weird thing is that gigabyte did not call this an ultrabook. There are many reasons why this cannot be classified as an ultrabook, for example this notebook might not have the specific processors and may not have reached the dimensions of an ultrabook. This notebook might just pack an AMD cpu since there is no ultrabook branding. We will be updating as the day comes

Ipod Touch Panel leaked, Having a 4.1" screen

9to5Mac reported that the next gen ipod touch will have a 4.1" screen. The photo of the from panel was also leaked. Yesterday we reported that the next gen iphone will have a 3.95" display and a bumped up resolution. Apple might be testing the different screen sizes which most suits what IOS 6 will offer. MacRumors and BadGizmo Repair also posted the alleged camera sensor for the next-generation iPhone. The camera sensors do not differ from the previous generation, the LED flash sensor is also missing. Leaked parts of next gen IOS devices will begin to appear more often as we get closer to a launch event by apple.

Next Generation iphone Tipped to have 3.95" display

Rumors of the next gen iphone are all over the internet, personally i think that the next gen iphone will not be released at WWDC but on october like the 4s release. 9to5Mac new info about the next gen iphone, they say that apple is testing two versions of the iphone named iphone 5.1 and 5.2. These two phones are said to have larger displays and are currently being tested by employees which hide the phone using a custom case. Both of the devices are 3.95" diagonally and the resolution is being increased to 1136 by 640 with a pixel density of 330 pixels per inch. The aspect ratio of the device is also said to be 16:9 which replaces the old 4:3 aspect ratio. These extra realestate will not be wasted because apple is reportedly testing IOS 6, which takes advantage of the new resolution and a new home screen which has a fifth row of app icons. 9to5Mac also said they know details about the resigned dock connector, they say that the new dock connector will not be the rumored 'pill shaped' but will have a more narrower 30-pin dock connector. The new dock connector is also said to be between a microUSB port and a miniUSB port. Finally, the home button will still be present in the next iphone and may be the last iphone to have it. Stay tuned for more rumors.

Phone Tech Update [Ep 1]

Starting from this week, we will be doing a phone tech update which will be basically updates about the phone industry in its ups and downs. This will be a weekly episode, but if there is some major events like WWDC or Computex this series will be halted.
The first in the line of news is that, Samsung has announced that it has received 9 million and counting pre-orders for their next generation of Galaxy S smartphone the Galaxy S III. This is a very impressive achievements and can wrap up to become the best selling android phone in the world. The Galaxy S II in the other hand took about 10 months to reach 20 million sales. This might just beat Apple's record for most iphone sales in one quarter (43 million). Again this is still pre-orders and the price of the Galaxy S III is quite expensive being a $800 phone. These figures are all pre orders from carriers and not sales figures (from the report from the Korea Economic Daily). Only time will tell, who knows maybe after launch the sale drops or increases, we will keep you updated on that topic as the time comes.
The next story is kind of mind blowing. Microsoft reports that windows phone china market share is now 7% of china's smartphone market and the thing is that it beats the iphone market share by 1%. If this story is true windows is growing at a very rapid rate, because windows phone has just landed in china about two months ago. Windows Phone is not only growing in china but are also growing in some key markets like Russia. However the sources maybe misinterpreted by meaning the whole china market as one single carrier.
The last and formost story of the week is this video which shows the lumia 900 being used as a hammer. In the first part of the video the man hammered a nail on the screen which results to no scratches whatsoever. After that the man fells that it is not enough and uses it as a hammer. Impressively the phone stays intact, with this said this phone might be the world's most toughest phone. It is noted that the lumia 900 has a Gorilla glass panel which allows for a scratch proof surface. Please do not try this at home as it will not only cause damage but will void your warranty.

Intel DZ77RE-75K with Thunderbolt Support

Intel is set to release their top of the line Z77 motherboard, the DZ77RE-75K. This motherboard from intel will support thunderbolt I/O which can handle up to 10Gb/s transfer speeds. This motherboard resembles its little brother the DZ77GA-70K, which the only difference between the both of them are the presence of thunderbolt on the 75K.  The thunderbolt I/O is powered by the DSL3310 Thunderbolt controller in tandem with Intel FDI. The DSL3310 unfortunately, is a slim variant in Intel's Thunderbolt controller lineup, which only takes advantage of PCI-Express gen 2.0 x2, so Thunderbolt might not perform to its fullest. This board is ready for launch early next week.

Asus Padfone (Official Demo Video)

The last time we saw this revolutionary device, it was back in Mobile World Congress on February. This device is ready for sale but due to shortages of the Snapdragon S4, the padfone will come in the coming weeks. The main feature which blows our mind is the ability to connect the phone to a tablet via a HDMI connector and  'poof ' you now have 10.1 inches, it also has capabilities to connect to a keyboard dock like the Transformer Prime. The phone itself has a 4.3" display with a 540 x 960 pixels, Powering the whole device is a  1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 with Adreno 225 GPU. The Padfone also sports a 8Mp rear facing camera.

Thunderbolt on a Gigabyte Motherboard

Gigabyte talked about plans to release 3 motherboards capable of Thunderbolt in the PlugFest event held in Malaysia. The rear I/O panel of one of the three was shown on a slide, which reveals it to have a Thunderbolt/mini-DisplayPort connector, alongside standard DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI, and D-Sub, among other common I/O connectors. The Thunderbolt connector will also be wired to the Flexible Display Interface (FDI), letting you use processor-integrated Intel HD 4000/2500 graphics, and probably discrete graphics over LucidLogix Virtu MVP. The Thunderbolt I/O will allow users to daisy-chain as many as six high-bandwidth devices like a storage device, apart from a display. To date there is only one motherboard which has onboard thunderbolt which is the MSI Z77A-GD80. Whereas there is a Intel board (DZ77-75K) which is slated to be released in the coming weeks. Asus has also provided users with a flexibility to add thunderbolt via a breakout box sold separately on any P8Z77 motherboard except the P8Z77-WS. Its is noted that hot swap of devices is not yet supported on windows, so you must reboot to plug a device.
