Samsung Galaxy S IV Might Hit Shelves By April

Well, yesterday we found out that Samsung will not have a press conference at MWC this year which means no new devices. Well, Samsung's flagship device the Galaxy S IV is expected to be announced at a special event taking place in around the march timeframe. Today, Phonearena has been tipped about raffle document at a New Zealand mobile retailer and in the documents one of the prizes is the Galaxy S IV. This raffle will end on April 8 which mean the March announcement of the S IV is very probable. However this could also mean another thing, maybe just maybe samsung has a new device called the Samsung S4. Well that is just a very very wild guess. Stay tuned for this week's Galaxy S IV Rumor Roundup episode.

BlackBerry 10 What Does It Mean, My Thoughts On The New Platform

Today we feasted on the BlackBerry 10 and overall the launch event was very successful. Starting of with what i think on this launch. One thing which i think BlackBerry did right was changing their name from RIM to BlackBerry. This is key because they are now known as one brand and face it if you ask a normal consumer who is Research In Motion, they don't know a soul about it. So changing their name to BlackBerry was a pretty good move for them.

Then came the unveiling of the first two BB10 devices namely the Z10 & Q10 in which one is touch and the other one is the classic qwerty type. The Z10 is an interesting device as it was extensively leaked in the past month and i basically saw the full review of the device by TheVerge while Thorsten Heins was still demoing the phone. The Q10 in the other hand was demoed on stage briefly but the media and press were not allowed to have a hands on with the device so basically they were just filming the BlackBerry team holding the device. Additionally we learnt not that much about the Q10 all we know is that its a qwerty phone with a touchscreen and running BB10 thats all. Another thing which i felt about the Z10 is that at first when Thorsten Heins was talking about it on the event live i thought that this might just work.

Until I saw the full review by TheVerge, it changed my mind by a bit and a few hours ago image comparisons of the Z10 went online and the results is that the 8MP camera on it is amongst the weakest in the flagship smartphone category. But overall i felt very intrigued with the OS which has no home button and all you have to do to navigate the OS is a swipe up and you are done. I was also impressed with BBM which can now do video call to other BBM users and also for the first time natively on a mobile device you could share your screen. This feature may not be a big impact for us consumers but for enterprise users it sure will help. One thing which i like about BB10 is it has a built in microHDMI port which is pretty useful in times and also present on the device is a microSD card which can be pretty useful in times.

In the OS itself what i like about it is BlackBerry Flow which demonstrates true multitasking with programs running on the fly even though you minimize it. Probably the thing i like about BB10 most is the keyboard which i am pretty stoked to try because the videos i watched about BB10 was praised in the keyboard being very good in predicting words. Overall this is a very big step for RIM and like the saying goes its not too late to start over. I'm not so sure what the consumer response on BB10 will be only time will tell. As Thorstein Heins said this is just the starting and they still have a long way to go. Stay tuned for more editorials on BB10 in the coming days.

Blackberry 10 Launch Event Recap, A Very Giant Step For BlackBerry

The event today started a bit late, but when it start it really started. Thorsten Heins the CEO of RIM took the stage and talked a bit about BB10. Then out of the blue he announced that starting today RIM will now be called blackberry and the whole company will now be one name. Soon after that all of the employees in the big screen are counting to 10 to launch the first 2 BB10 phones which are the Z10 and the Q10. The Z10 is the full touch device and the Q10 is the first qwerty keyboard BB10 device. The Z10 as leaked has a 4.2" screen with a 456PPI. Then they talk more about Blackberry Flow which is how you navigate throughout the new OS.

In the nick of time they change to talking about the work features of blackberry 10 which is encryption and you can change to 2 modes like work and personal. Then came the juicy bits which is about BBM, and as the previous rumors pointed BBM will now support video calling and also screen sharing which could be very useful in the enterprise level. Then out of the blue Thorsten Heins announced that Alica Keys will be BlackBerry's new Global Creative Director.

Additionally, BlackBerry is also planning to upgrade all the existing playbook's with BB10 sometime in the future. With the launch of the Z10 they also showed of quite a number of accessories like cases, bluetooth speakers and external battery chargers. Thats pretty much what Blackberry had to say at the launch of the new platform. Stay tuned for the coming days for some more BlackBerry 10 content as well as a few editorials.

Facebook Graph Search Overview, Makes Searching More Easier

Today when i logged on to facebook, i was happy to know that i was off the waiting list to test the beta version of Graph Search. Facebook announced Graph Search 2 weeks ago and you can get in the waiting list to use the new feature here. I waited for about 2 weeks now and finally got it. Well, lets go on with the short overview of this new and interesting facebook feature.
Immediately the first thing you see after enabling the graph search feature is that the taskbar is changed and now your friend request, messages, and notification icon has been moved from the left all the way next to your thumbnail. Also now the taskbar above will change to the specific place you are at. Say for example you're at our facebook page and on the left side you will see "The Technology Of Today International".
Before activating the feature, i was give a very brief tutorial which taught the basics of graph search like what you can search. Above here is a list of things which you could search. Overall graph search is a pretty amazing tool and i like the way it can search mostly anything.
"Its Like Google Inside Facebook"
Here is an example of a search which will bring out quite a lot of results but fear not, facebook has also added a filter on the right side which you can toggle to get more refined results. Basically the stalking possibilities are endless as you can basically search anything which somebody has made available public to facebook searchable.
You could also search things like photos by a certain page or person or search something like a photo with these two people tagged in. Again in this situation with a lot of data, Facebook has a filter on the right side of the page. Lets wrap things up here by saying that Graph Search is really a very powerful tool but can be used to also stalk people at another level. Overall i would give this feature a 7/10 score and i can't wait to see what facebook will do to improve it even more. As i said earlier this is in a limited beta and if you want to give it a try click here to join the waiting list.

White Nexus 4 Images Emerge, New Design For The Back

Previously there has been rumors of a white Nexus 4 and today we are seeing the first leaks of how the device might look like. The white version will be equivalent in terms of specs compared to the black model but when in design perspectives the white version has a few changes. One of them is that now the area surrounding the flash is now having chrome opposed to the black line finish on the black variant. The back of the white one also experience some change, apparently the pattern below the glass covering the back of the device has also been changed from sparkly dots to white lines. It is still a question whether the front of the device will be all white.

Nokia Along With The Graphene Flagship Consortium Developing Practical Uses For Graphene, Unbreakable Phones ?

Well, lets just talk a bit of science here to break the ice in this story. The strongest material known to man is Graphene and it is a class 2D structure which measures in at one atom thick. Additionally graphene is 300 times tougher than steel and is also one the the lightest and best essential conductors. Well continuing our story, Nokia is leading the group or companies in the Graphene Flagship Consortium. This consortium consists of 73 companies and academic institutions in various fields and they just received one billion euros grant to research and develop practical uses for this material. This grant is provided by the European Union for the Future and Emerging Technologies. Well so what does this have to do with technology. Nokia a mobile phone manufacturer is prominent to utilise this material for use with their future mobile devices. Just think of all the open possibilities for this. This is what Henry Tirri, EVP, CTO of Nokia, and Tapani Ryhänen, Head of the Sensor and Material Technologies Laboratory for the Finns has to say:
Nokia is proud to be involved with this project, and we have deep roots in the field – we first started working with graphene already in 2006. Since then, we have come to identify multiple areas where this material can be applied in modern computing environments. We’ve done some very promising work so far, but I believe the greatest innovations have yet to be discovered.
Graphene happens to be an area where we, in Europe, have all the important players in the value chain who are ready to use it in applications. From that perspective, this is a very efficient and promising way of doing research investments for Europe...
During the last 18 months we have seen a tremendous effort to build collaboration between European academia and industry. Now we have all the ingredients in place to be globally successful. We believe that new two-dimensional materials will have an impact on industrial value chains in many ways, creating opportunities for new products, services and economic growth.

HTC M7 Front & Back Panels Leaked, All That Is Left Now Is The Price And Availability

One thing which we will definitely see next month at MWC is the HTC M7. This device in the past week has been leaked quite extensively. The leak today is courtesy of etradesupply.com and they have gotten their hands on the front and back panel of the alleged M7. If this is turns our to be true than HTC has something going on because for the first time ever they are putting the charging connector on the top in an android device. They also got it right with an inclusion of a dedicated camera shutter button. The panel is 7cm wide and 13.7 cm tall. The back panel is the soft touch plastic with the sides being glossy black and the front is made of aluminum. The front panel is able to fit the rumored 4.7" which gives this leak a big plus. Overall this leak is pretty exact with info, but for full detail we'll just have to wait for HTC to officially announce it.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Images Makes Its Way To The Internet

Last week we heard some info of Samsung's next gen Galaxy Tab tablets. Today, comes a leak of the device itself, the exterior of the box and the tablet itself has been leaked. But through that nothing can be concluded just yet. This really is mr blurrycam because for some reason the model number is blur. One thing which i can say is that either Samsung is going stock android or this is fake, because the thumbnail on the box is featuring the app drawer and there are icons like PPTV on the box. This might just be a fake or a very early sample. Overall we can't quite see much differences from the tablet since there is some of the plastic wrapping around it.
