Introducing The Asus PadFone II

Asus just wraped up their PadFone II launch event in Milan and at there they officially unveiled the PadFone II. If you want to find out more on the PadFone II click here for our first look on it. The event lasted for about an hour but in that short period of time all of the main features were introduced. The first thing that Johnny Shih the chairman showed was obviously the PadFone II itself he said that he likes the design of it. Next he talks about the amazing 13MP camera found on the PadFone II, i have to agree with him the pictures taken with the PadFone II are stunningly amazing and cystal clear. The camera is also capable of taking burst shots of up to 6 shots per second and bout a 100 shots a minute and that is enough to beat the HTC One X's and Samsung Galaxy S III's camera. The PadFone II can also take up to 1080P video but the interesting part is that at 720P and below the PadFone II is capable of recording at 60 frames per second. Then he talked about the quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 which is based on the cortex A15 architecture. With the new PadFone it brings a bigger and more stunning display and he also said that the battery is vastly improved and with the PadFone station the PadFone II can have 3X more battery life. Then finally he talks about the software which he mainly touches on the Asus cloud service which has 50GB of free storage for 2 years and has full office capabilities via the cloud service. The PadFone II will be priced at 799 euros for the 32GB model and 899 euros for the 64GB model but these prices are for the phone only and not including the PadFone station. Johnny Shih ended by saying that he is giving us a christmas present by including the PadFone station with the PadFone for the first few month it goes on sale.

Asus PadFone 2 Gets Official, Claims The Title Of The World's Fastest Smartphone

Earlier this year in Mobile World Congress Asus unveiled the PadFone which has the capability to transform in to a tablet. One of the biggest problems users found with the first gen padfone is the bulkyness of the design in bot the tablet and the handset. We fast forward to almost 8 months and Asus has announced the PadFone II which is a significant update form the PadFone I. One of the most noticable differences is that the phone can now be slided in to dock on the tablet opposed to the hinged design found on the PadFone I. The PadFone itself has been updated with more powerful hardware. The screen has now been bumped up to 4.7 inches with a 720P resolution which translates to a 312PPI. The PadFone II is rocking Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon S4 Pro which is clocked at 1.5GHz and that is paired up with 2GB of RAM. The 8MP shooter on the original PadFone has been swapped with a more powerful 13MP camera capable of recording 1080P video. The weight of the entire unit has also decreased significantly. Asus also brought in their SonicMaster audio technology into the PadFone II so now the audio on both the tablet and the smartphone is going to sound really good. The PadFone II will be running Android 4.0 ICS but they promised that it will be updated as soon as possible to Jellybean. The PadFone II also supports LTE and has NFC onboard. The tablet itself has not been changed much in terms of specs, it still has that 10.1 screen with a 1280 X 800 resolution. The PadFone II will be going on sale next week in Taiwan for $620 for the 16GB model and $750 for the 64GB model. If you buy the PadFone station as a bundle it would cost you an extra $210 for each price point but if you buy it standalone you would need to pay a hefty price of $310.
