Asus MWC 2013 Press Conference Recap

The Asus MWC press event just ended and my impressions of the event is that the products shown are ok but its going to be outdated by the time it reach some markets. Move aside that and i'll give you a full recap of the event which started about 15 minutes late because the livestream was not working. As usual to Asus events it always starts with some magic which lasts for a while then official business is being talked. It starts of with Jonney Shih talking about the Asus cloud services which is comprising of a few elements like instant photo share, cloud storage, etc. Then the fun bit is when he announces the Padfone Infinity which is yet another padfone which has better specs. It seemed that not too long ago that the Padfone 2 was announced. The device sports a 5" FHD IPS display, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 13MP camera and a 1.7GHz snapdragon 600 processor. Jonney is calling it the Superphone. As to all padfone the station is also here in the Padfone infinity, this time around it has a 1920 X 1200 resolution and with the phone plugged in the station the battery life of the Padfone can be extended up to 3 times. The device will cost 999 euros for the whole set, other pricings were not disclosed. Soon after that Jonney yet again unveils another mobile device called the fonepad which is basically a phablet. Specs include a 7" 1280 X 800 display, 1GB of RAM, Android 4.1, optional cameras and 8/16GB of memory which is expandable via microSD card. The fonepad is in Asus's eyes a bridge between a phone and tablet. The device also features the all new Intel Atom Z2420 which has battery saving features to extend the fonepads battery life. Not to mention, both of the devices shown off today are made using aluminum opposed to plastic in previous gen devices. Thats pretty much what happened. Join the conversation at our Facebook page as we will post up some content there also.

Nokia's MWC 2013 Press Conference Recap, No Lumia Pureview

Well, Nokia's event just ended a while ago and i watched a few ads and hands on with the devices. I also got the chance to read some press releases of the devices announced today at MWC. The event lasted about an hour and i was watching the livestream from Nokia, before watching it i was expecting to see the unexpected and Nokia somehow gave me that unexpected feeling. The event as usual starts with Stepehen Elop taking the stage and doing some talking and then he says that Nokia will be unveiling 4 new devices today. Besides that he also took some time to talk about the Nokia innovation and said that they are bringing high end features to low end devices and breaking every price point. Then without any other explanation he passed the stage to Nokia's Head of design Marko Ahtisaari which started introducing the 4 devices one by one taking it out of his pocket. The first device introduced is the Nokia 301 which is a mid range phone with a keypad. The coolest feature i think is the voice command on taking self shots. The device also comes in at many colors. The device will cost 65Euors and will ship in Q2. Then he shows off the Nokia 105 which is by far the cheapest nokia phone to date at 15Euros. The device is your average phone with the keypad, a color screen and what's not to forget about the torchlight. This phone will replace the ever so popular Nokia 1280 which sold over 120 million. Soon after that he takes the Lumia 520 out of his pocket and it is by far the cheapest Windows Phone 8 offering from Nokia. It has a 4" WVGA screen, a 1GHz dual core CPU, 512MB of RAM and a 5MP camera. Following the theme of bringing high end features to low end devices the Lumia 520 also features the Lumia 920's super sensitive screen. The Lumia 720 is the last new phone by Nokia today and it incorporates a camera which is not classified as Pureview but said to take very stunning images. The pin point of the Lumia 820 is the camera which has a f/1.9 aperture which allows more light to enter, the sensor is at 6.7MP. Like the 520 the 720 also sports the Lumia 920's super sensitive screen. Additionally the Lumia 720 is Nokia's first unibody phone which features a microSD card slot. In between Marko also announced the Here suite which comprises of Maps, Drive, and Transit. The suite is also making its way to non Lumia Windows Phone devices very soon. Thats pretty much a wrap up on the event, tell us what you think or join the conversation with us in our facebook page

Samsung Galaxy S IV Will Not Use AMOLED Screens & Exynos Processors, Samsung Opting To Use

We are less than 3 weeks away from the rumored announcement of the Galaxy S IV. Just a few moments ago Sammobile reported that their insider has given them an unconfirmed official specs of Samsung's next gen Galaxy S device. As previously mentioned by some, Samsung will be ditching both their homegrown AMOLED and Exynos hardware in the Galaxy S IV. The processor will be swapped with a Snapdragon 600 for the Exynos 5 Octa which is reportedly having overheating issues. The Snapdragon however is the same processor as the one found in the HTC One but the one on the S IV is clocked 200MHz higher at 1.9GHz. Additionally the AMOLED screen is also swapped for a SoLux display. This screen swap could be because of Samsung having some manufacturing issued with the FHD AMOLED screens. Alongside the two main pieces of received by Sammobile by their insider they were also told that the Galaxy S IV will measure in at 140.1 X 71.8 X 7.7mm and will weigh in at 138 grams. The picture included with the information clearly shows that the device now more geometrical compared to the curves on the Galaxy S III. The presence of a physical home button is also confirmed.

HTC One Now Official, Most Premium Android Phone To Date

Well its been a few hours after the HTC event ended and yes, they did announce the HTC One. No surprisingly, everything rumored about the device all the way down to its aluminum body was present. The HTC One will be HTC's new flagship device and they will do some extensive marketing so things won't end up like the One X last year. There are quite a few core features of the HTC One which is the all so familiar Ultrapixel, Sense 5.0, BoomSound, and HTC Zoe. The Ultrapixel camera is basically having a bigger sensor size at 2.0 microns but i still can't see why its only 4MP. HTC Zoe is in the same context with the ultrapixel camera, its basically a format HTC uses to take 3sec videos of your pictures so they look animated in your gallery. Finally its Sense 5.0, The basic homescreens seem unchanged but HTC has an added feature called blink feed. The specs of the HTC One is a 4.7" FHD Super LCD 3 screen, powered by the all new Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32/64GB of non expandable memory, the usual wireless extensions, a 2,300mAh battery, 4G LTE, and an IR Blaster.
