Asus MWC 2013 Press Conference Recap

The Asus MWC press event just ended and my impressions of the event is that the products shown are ok but its going to be outdated by the time it reach some markets. Move aside that and i'll give you a full recap of the event which started about 15 minutes late because the livestream was not working. As usual to Asus events it always starts with some magic which lasts for a while then official business is being talked. It starts of with Jonney Shih talking about the Asus cloud services which is comprising of a few elements like instant photo share, cloud storage, etc. Then the fun bit is when he announces the Padfone Infinity which is yet another padfone which has better specs. It seemed that not too long ago that the Padfone 2 was announced. The device sports a 5" FHD IPS display, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 13MP camera and a 1.7GHz snapdragon 600 processor. Jonney is calling it the Superphone. As to all padfone the station is also here in the Padfone infinity, this time around it has a 1920 X 1200 resolution and with the phone plugged in the station the battery life of the Padfone can be extended up to 3 times. The device will cost 999 euros for the whole set, other pricings were not disclosed. Soon after that Jonney yet again unveils another mobile device called the fonepad which is basically a phablet. Specs include a 7" 1280 X 800 display, 1GB of RAM, Android 4.1, optional cameras and 8/16GB of memory which is expandable via microSD card. The fonepad is in Asus's eyes a bridge between a phone and tablet. The device also features the all new Intel Atom Z2420 which has battery saving features to extend the fonepads battery life. Not to mention, both of the devices shown off today are made using aluminum opposed to plastic in previous gen devices. Thats pretty much what happened. Nokia's MWC 2013 Press Conference Recap, No Lumia Pureview

Well, Nokia's event just ended a while ago and i watched a few ads and hands on with the devices. I also got the chance to read some press releases of the devices announced today at MWC. The event lasted about an hour and i was watching the livestream from Nokia, before watching it i was expecting to see the unexpected and Nokia somehow gave me that unexpected feeling. The event as usual starts with Stepehen Elop taking the stage and doing some talking and then he says that Nokia will be unveiling 4 new devices today. Besides that he also took some time to talk about the Nokia innovation and said that they are bringing high end features to low end devices and breaking every price point. Then without any other explanation he passed the stage to Nokia's Head of design Marko Ahtisaari which started introducing the 4 devices one by one taking it out of his pocket. The first device introduced is the Nokia 301 which is a mid range phone with a keypad. The coolest feature i think is the voice command on taking self shots. The device also comes in at many colors. The device will cost 65Euors and will ship in Q2. Then he shows off the Nokia 105 which is by far the cheapest nokia phone to date at 15Euros. The device is your average phone with the keypad, a color screen and what's not to forget about the torchlight. This phone will replace the ever so popular Nokia 1280 which sold over 120 million. Soon after that he takes the Lumia 520 out of his pocket and it is by far the cheapest Windows Phone 8 offering from Nokia. It has a 4" WVGA screen, a 1GHz dual core CPU, 512MB of RAM and a 5MP camera. Following the theme of bringing high end features to low end devices the Lumia 520 also features the Lumia 920's super sensitive screen. The Lumia 720 is the last new phone by Nokia today and it incorporates a camera which is not classified as Pureview but said to take very stunning images. The pin point of the Lumia 820 is the camera which has a f/1.9 aperture which allows more light to enter, the sensor is at 6.7MP. Like the 520 the 720 also sports the Lumia 920's super sensitive screen. Additionally the Lumia 720 is Nokia's first unibody phone which features a microSD card slot. In between Marko also announced the Here suite which comprises of Maps, Drive, and Transit. The suite is also making its way to non Lumia Windows Phone devices very soon. Thats pretty much a wrap up on the event, tell us what you think or join the conversation with us in our facebook page.

HTC Send Invites For A February 19 Press Event, HTC M7 ?

Just when we thought MWC was getting interesting with a lot of leaked devices. Today, HTC halted that thought and they have went ahead and released invites for a press event happening in New York City on the 19th of February. The event is around 2 and a half hours so expect to see some big launch there. Our number 1 guess is the HTC M7 which has been leaked quite a lot this year.

HTC M7 Front & Back Panels Leaked, All That Is Left Now Is The Price And Availability

One thing which we will definitely see next month at MWC is the HTC M7. This device in the past week has been leaked quite extensively. The leak today is courtesy of etradesupply.com and they have gotten their hands on the front and back panel of the alleged M7. If this is turns our to be true than HTC has something going on because for the first time ever they are putting the charging connector on the top in an android device. They also got it right with an inclusion of a dedicated camera shutter button. The panel is 7cm wide and 13.7 cm tall. The back panel is the soft touch plastic with the sides being glossy black and the front is made of aluminum. The front panel is able to fit the rumored 4.7" which gives this leak a big plus. Overall this leak is pretty exact with info, but for full detail we'll just have to wait for HTC to officially announce it.

Galaxy Note 8.0 Leaks Again, This Time Featuring The S Pen

The Galaxy Note 8.0 got leaked yet again a few moments ago, practically my whole facebook news feed was surrounded by the images. Ok back to business, it seems that the leaks for the Note 8.0 is not stopping. Today we finally get a look at the S Pen for the Note 8.0. It looks like the normal one but who knows maybe Samsung has done something with it. If you see the image above the Note 8.0 dwarfs the Note II. And one thing i never noticed about yesterdays leak is that the device has a earpiece on the top and there is also an icon for the telephone.

The picture above is what looks to be the unannounced Galaxy Note 8.0. We have heard quite a lot about the 8 inch Galaxy Note in the past days and we have all of the info like specs and the leaked image. The leak today shows the Note 8.0 in action. From the image i can really say that Samsung is really running out of ideas because to my eyes it really looks like a supersized Galaxy Note II. Stay tuned for more news on this.

HTC M7 Poses For The Camera, Android Softkeys Apparently Screwed Up

Late yesterday we showed you guys a leaked render of what apparently is the HTC M7. Well today, Android Police have gotten their hands on a leaked image of what looks like the HTC M7. This image looks picture perfect with the leaked render yesterday. So there are two possible outcomes to this; either that this is the real deal or both of the leaked info are faked. The leaked image today showed that HTC has got something wrong by the placement of the softkeys which seem to be wrong. Stay tuned to MWC at the end of next month to see this device in its full glory.

HTC M7 Leaked Render, Is This The Real Deal ?

Pocketnow has apparently received an image of the HTC M7 which is set to debut at MWC next month. Previously there were some leaked renders of the device which just look not HTC like but the leaked render today looks to be in line with HTC design aspects. To give a little recap, the M7 is going to be HTC's 2013 flagship device packing not a 5" 1080P display but a 4.7" 1080P display. The M7 is also going to be the first device to be using the sense 5.0 skin alongside Android 4.2. Other specifications like the silicone have not be leaked yet. This leaked render today looks a lot like the HTC 8X from the back and on the front it looks like the HTC One series with a bit alterations.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Specs Confirmed, Debuting At MWC 2013

Late last year there was a benchmark score of an unamed GT-N5100 and since then the tech world has been waiting for the mid sized Galaxy Note. With the introduction of this new device Samsung would have completed the family with having a phone, mid sized and full size tablet. Today, Sammobile is confirming that Samsung will be debuting the Galaxy Note 8.0 at MWC next month and they also have the confirmed specs of the tablet. The tablet will come in two variants, one with wifi only and the other with wifi and data capabilities. It will have an 8" screen which is 1280X800, this screen is not an AMOLED screen but a Super LCD screen, a 5MP rear shooter, a 1.3MP front facing camera, 2GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB strorage configurations which are expandable via microSD card, the usual array of wireless connectivities, and a 4600mAh battery. This device when launched will be running Android 4.2 Jellybean and will most probably be the first Samsung non nexus device to use the new software. This tablet when launched will be a direct competitor of the iPad mini which is just 0.1" smaller.

Nokia Head Of Imaging Hinting At New Pureview Technology Coming Later This Year

The pureview camera technology by Nokia has been one of things which helped nokia a lot besides their mapping solution. Last year at MWC 2013 nokia pulled a fast card and announced the 808 pureview which till now is still the best camera built into a smartphone. Soon after that people were expecting Nokia to come out with a Lumia phone with the pureview camera technology and they did just that with the introduction of the Lumia 920. Currently we are expecting to see something new in the pureview side of the story being announced at MWC. Since the 808 Pureview was the very last symbian device by Nokia then this new pureview device is sure to be running microsoft's WP8. Late this week, Juha Alakarhu, one of the people behind the pureview technology talked extensively about the pureview technology. He did not reveal much about what can we expect in the forseen future, but he did say that very cool stuff from the talented pureview team will come later this year
Consumers are amazed by the results they’re seeing from Nokia Lumia 920 in these conditions, and we have so many ideas for how to improve in this area...I think it’s important to underscore that PureView doesn’t mean any specific technology. It’s the latest and greatest in imaging. When you buy a Nokia phone with PureView, you are getting our highest quality imaging innovation... it’s basically about problem solving. Nokia 808 PureView solved the problem of zooming and sharpness, and for Nokia Lumia 920, it was low light.Imaging is extremely subjective, and you can always make something better. We’re really driving innovation in key areas to deepen and enrich the imaging experience. I can’t tell you about the specific things we’re working on. Safe to say it’s very cool. We’re looking at imaging holistically, from optics to display, and working on all of those to improve. It’s very complicated, and the trick is to make all these building blocks work well together. But it’s not just purely hardware innovation. You need to get the software to work as well. That’s the real beauty — that’s what makes a truly amazing solution.I’m really proud, we have a damn good team. Hardware doesn’t work without very good software, and there’s no software that can fix bad hardware. Asked if there’s one major problem he would like to solve in the years ahead, Juha takes his time before answering. I’d love to make it super easy to get great photos every single time,” he tells us. “You should be able to give your phone to a 3-year old and still capture amazing photos, like with a big DSLR camera.People are working on exciting technologies that can capture so much more. Huge innovations are happening right now. We’re looking at imaging from so many different angles.
