More Specs On The Exynos 5 Octa Emerge, Expect The Graphics Performance To Be On Par With The iPad 3

Last week at CES, Samsung took the time to unveil the Exynos 5 octa at their Keynote. Although at the keynote they were short of specs on the new chip but they sure did some demonstrations demonstrating the performance of it. Overall the demo showed that the new chip is not only powerful but also very intelligently energy efficient. To recap the Exynos 5 octa from Samsung is using ARM's big.LITTLE concept in which part of the chip is a A7 core and the other is a A15 core. This significantly helps the device to be high performance and save battery at the same time. The Exynos 5 octa include a pair of quad core A7 and A15 cores in it. In which the A15 is clocked in at 1.8GHz and the A7 cores is clocked in at an energy saving 1.2GHz. One key thing which samsung did not reveal is the GPU, but as we know people of the internet are very curious so some people speculated first that the graphics power will be provided by the ARM Mali-T604 but that thought was shunned down because AnandTech managed to find out that the Exynos 5 octa will not be using Mali graphics this time around but will be using PowerVR SGX 544. This is about the same GPU powering the iPad 3 so expect the Exynos 5 octa to perform something like the iPad 3 in terms of graphics. In an obvious answer, the first device which will be powered by this 8 core chip is the Galaxy S IV which is expected to debut in early Q2 or late Q1.
