Tim Cook Represents Apple In Apologizing To The Public About The Apple Maps

Apple Maps have been receiving quite some negative feedback from customers. So for the first time in Apple history Tim Cook is apologizing to the customers and saying that they are extremely sorry for the maps they released for iOS 6. In his official statement he recommended either using Waze, Bing or Mapquest from the App Store. He also said that Google Maps and Nokia Maps can be accessed through the we browser. 

To our customers,

At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better.

We launched Maps initially with the first version of iOS. As time progressed, we wanted to provide our customers with even better Maps including features such as turn-by-turn directions, voice integration, Flyover and vector-based maps. In order to do this, we had to create a new version of Maps from the ground up.

There are already more than 100 million iOS devices using the new Apple Maps, with more and more joining us every day. In just over a week, iOS users with the new Maps have already searched for nearly half a billion locations. The more our customers use our Maps the better it will get and we greatly appreciate all of the feedback we have received from you.

While we’re improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app.

Everything we do at Apple is aimed at making our products the best in the world. We know that you expect that from us, and we will keep working non-stop until Maps lives up to the same incredibly high standard.

Tim Cook Sends A Memo To All Employees About The Apple Vs Samsung Trial

Today Apple won the Samsung Vs Apple trial and scooped up $1.05 Billion in damages from Samsung. Shortly after the win Apple's CEO Tim Cook sent a memo response to Apple corporate employees about the win. The statement released is based on Apple's PR Head Katie Cotton closing statements. He said:

Today was an important day for Apple and for innovators everywhere.

Many of you have been closely following the trial against Samsung in San Jose for the past few weeks. We chose legal action very reluctantly and only after repeatedly asking Samsung to stop copying our work. For us this lawsuit has always been about something much more important than patents or money. It’s about values. We value originality and innovation and pour our lives into making the best products on earth. And we do this to delight our customers, not for competitors to flagrantly copy.

We owe a debt of gratitude to the jury who invested their time in listening to our story. We were thrilled to finally have the opportunity to tell it. The mountain of evidence presented during the trial showed that Samsung’s copying went far deeper than we knew.

The jury has now spoken. We applaud them for finding Samsung’s behavior willful and for sending a loud and clear message that stealing isn’t right.
I am very proud of the work that each of you do.

Today, values have won and I hope the whole world listens.

To cut things short Tim Cook notes that he seemingly did not want to go trial with Samsung. He also said that these events only happened after Apple repeatedly asked Samsung to stop copying. He ends his email by saying how proud he is of the work each and every employee does and that "values have won"
