Samsung Galaxy S4 Unboxing | SHV-E300

unboxing of the korean samsung galaxy s4
Well, today is the launch for the Galaxy S4 in Korea and my friend michael has picked up the Galaxy S4 from LG U+. He picked up the 32GB version of the device for quite a hefty price. This particular version of the S4 has the same hardware as other versions but unlike the international version which could not combine 8 cores with LTE the korean version comes in with an Exynos 5 octa 8 core processor with support for LTE too. Additionally this version also comes with an extra battery as well as the extra battery charger. Well watch the unboxing video below and if you want to learn more about the Galaxy S4 subscribe to the Daily S4 youtube channel, i'm sure you won't regret hitting that subscribe button.

Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note & Other Exynos Based Samsung Devices Is Vulnerable To New Exploit

Malware has been always a weak point of android but if you are not altering your phone and using it you'll most probably be in the safe zone. Well in a new report by XDA-Dev shows that a new exploit discovered proved to be harmful to Samsung flagship devices using the Exynos chipset. These devices include:
  • Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100
  • Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300
  • Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE GT-I9305
  • Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100
  • Verizon Galaxy Note 2 SCH-I605 (with locked bootloaders)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8000
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8010.
XDA user alephazin has discovered a vulnerability in Exynos processors version 4210 and 4412 that essentially will allow any android app to access and control the entire device.
Hi,Recently discover a way to obtain root on S3 without ODIN flashing. The security hole is in kernel, exactly with the device /dev/exynos-mem.This device is R/W by all users and give access to all physical memory … what’s wrong with Samsung ? […]The good news is we can easily obtain root on these devices and the bad is there is no control over it.Ram dump, kernel code injection and others could be possible via app installation from Play Store. It certainly exists many ways to do that but Samsung give an easy way to exploit. This security hole is dangerous and expose phone to malicious apps. Exploitation with native C and JNI could be easily feasible.
This can be a good thing to modders because rooting the device is much more easier but it still has some vulnerabilities. This problem has been notified to Samsung and an explanation is yet to be released.

Samsung Exynos 5440 In The Works, Quad Core & Cortex A15 Goodness

This year we are seeing a lot of new and innovative smartphones from all the manufacturer and one of the similarities of these flagship devices are they all pack a quad core processor. But these quad core processors are based on the cortex a9 microarchitecture and technology is constantly evolving with more better and efficient features. The successor to the A9 microarchitecture is the cortex A15 microarchitecture which is going to be implemented into 2013 processors from the chip fabricators. These include companies like Qualcomm, Samsung, Texas Instruments and Nvidia. Samsung however is one of the first to implement this microarchitecture to their latest Exynos processor which is the Exynos 5 dual. This processor is currently being used on the Samsung Chromebook Series 3. Now there is some evidence of a quad core Exynos processor based on the cortex a15 microarchitecture. The processor will have a model number of Exynos 5440 and will most probably be used in the upcoming Galaxy S IV and Galaxy Note III. This processor is still in the works but it will most probably be introduced by Samsung either at CES 2013 or MWC 2013.
