This year we are seeing a lot of new and innovative smartphones from all the manufacturer and one of the similarities of these flagship devices are they all pack a quad core processor. But these quad core processors are based on the cortex a9 microarchitecture and technology is constantly evolving with more better and efficient features. The successor to the A9 microarchitecture is the cortex A15 microarchitecture which is going to be implemented into 2013 processors from the chip fabricators. These include companies like Qualcomm, Samsung, Texas Instruments and Nvidia. Samsung however is one of the first to implement this microarchitecture to their latest Exynos processor which is the Exynos 5 dual. This processor is currently being used on the Samsung Chromebook Series 3. Now there is some evidence of a quad core Exynos processor based on the cortex a15 microarchitecture. The processor will have a model number of Exynos 5440 and will most probably be used in the upcoming Galaxy S IV and Galaxy Note III. This processor is still in the works but it will most probably be introduced by Samsung either at CES 2013 or MWC 2013.
