iPhone 5 First Weekend Sales In China Reach 2 Million, Small Number For A Big Country

Last week the iPhone 5 was launched in a few countries and one of them is China which is Apple's biggest market. Well today is Monday and the weekend sales result seems pretty good as Apple managed to sell 2 million units of the iPhone 5. Apple's CEO Tim Cook quotes that this is the best first weekend sales in China.  This time around Apple used a new reservation system which gave the buyers the exact time to collect their pre ordered device. This system can prevent what happened at the iPhone 4S launch earlier this year. Overall i think the sales are pretty modest because face it 2 million units for a country which has billions of people is just not enough. But nevertheless this is a uprank from the iPhone 4S sales result. Here is the full statement by Tim Cook:
"Customer response to iPhone 5 in China has been incredible, setting a new record with the best first weekend sales ever in China. China is a very important market for us and customers there cannot wait to get their hands on Apple products."-Tim Cook, Apple CEO
