Microsoft Lumia turns blue, what happened to purple?

microsoft-lumia-official-twitter-blue-purple

About a year ago this time, Microsoft completed the acquisition of Nokia's Mobile division and fresh out of the waters, the branch of Microsoft was called Microsoft Mobile or Microsoft Devices. Accordingly, the upcoming months featured new device launches which still bear the Nokia name like the Nokia Lumia 830 and Nokia Lumia 730. That didn't last long as Microsoft officially announced in October that they will be rebranding Nokia to Microsoft Lumia and the change is set to spread out onto social media accounts in the coming months ahead.

Seemingly enough, today we're quite familiar with the Microsoft Lumia branding and it does sound a little catchy but saying Microsoft Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM is a mouthful.

Microsoft Surface RT Gets Runned Over Cars And Survives

The Microsoft Surface is one of the most solidly built tablets out there. The tablet is made out of a magnesium alloy which Microsoft is calling VaporMag. The Surface RT tablet has shown is strength and durability in a few situations like falling off a moving car and hitting the asphalt road. In this latest incident Robbbilicious's Surface tablet was accidentally left above his car and it fell off when he reached around 60mph. The device survived the fall with a few scratches but surprisingly the screen was unharmed. He had this to say:
Each car passed by with the tires on each side of the Surface until the very last car. The tire of the car ran completely over the Surface and next thing I saw was my brand new $700 tablet and touch cover flying through the air in separate directions! My heart jumped, and so did I! I jumped out of my car and ran across the street to first grab the tablet, then the Surface, and then my phone which of course fell out of my lap during all this. I jumped back in my car just before 60 mph traffic made its way to me!

7" Surface Gaming Tablet Rumored, It Will Bear The XBOX Name

Earlier this year Microsoft gave the tech world a shock by introducing its own tablet. Now there is a speculation that Microsoft might launch a 7" tablet based on the XBOX name. The tablet is most probably going to run an ARM processor with some high bandwidth RAM for better gaming performance. This will be running a custom version OS with a custom windows kernel. This tablet will most probably be launched alongside the next gen XBOX console which is expected to be introduced late next year. The whole operation is a secret and the buildings where this mysterious 7" tablet is made is at a lockdown. So stay tuned for next year to see more Microsoft branded hardware.

Chinese Granny Tries To Stop The Surface Launch In Beijing

Yesterday Microsoft launch Windows 8 and the Surface tablet. Windows 8 was only launched in San Francisco, but the Surface was launched in multiple countries. China was one of the launch sites and it was also a bit loud for a chinese granny. She was worried that her grandchildren could not sleep so she randomly stands on the stage and waving at the audience. Soon after that security guards pulled her off the stage.

According To Microsoft's Applied Science Department Manager, The iPad Resolution Is Too High And The Surface's Resolution Is More Ideal

Microsoft is set to launch the Surface tablet next week on the 26th. The Surface is going to take on its number one competition which is the iPad. In the spec sheet the surface beats the iPad in every way except for one thing which is the resolution. According to Microsoft's applied sciences department manager, Stevie Bathich the retina display (2048 X 1536) of the iPad 3 actually poses problems for readability. There study also found that the Surface's 1366 X 768 resolution display is better. The logic goes that we've simply been paying attention to the wrong spec. Rather than display resolution, we should be looking at Modulation Transfer Function (MTF), which is the combination of both contrast and resolution. This makes sense to anyone who has tested out different devices (and why we here at PA tend to do articles comparing displays), because resolution is only part of the issue, and beyond that there are questions of view angles, color depth, and contrast (aka how black is black). He also added that there is a point when resolution is so high the eyes sensitivity decreases. Microsoft aimed for a "3 pronged approach", which focused on: 1) pixel rendering (ClearType technology), 2) a high-contrast, wide-angle display, and 3) optically bonding the screen "with the thinnest optical stack anywhere on the market". If this all adds up then this means that higher resolution is not always better.

Microsoft Surface Tablet Overview

Microsoft is set to launch the Surface tablet next week alongside windows 8 and it is currently up for pre order in a few countries. In this overview video of the surface tablet Microsoft touches on the sleekness of the surface tablet and the touch keyboard which acts as a cover. The also touch one some specific features like a microSD slot, USB port and HDMI out. This ad is most probably out there to thrash the iPad in every single way.

Microsoft Surface RT May Just Cost $199

When Microsoft announced the Surface tablet many people were amazed by it but some Manufacturers didn't think that Microsoft was doing something good as it might affect some of its hardware partners. The Surface will come in two versions, the Pro and RT version. The RT version will be using Windows 8 RT with an ARM processor. One thing Microsoft did not say when they unveiled the Surface is how much will it cost. They already confirmed that the Surface RT will launch alongside Windows 8 and the Pro version will come within 3 months of the launch of Windows 8. Now it seems like we have got a price on the Surface RT, According to an inside source, a session was held at Microsoft's recent TechReady15 conference in which all the launch details were laid out. Most importantly is that the Surface RT is confirmed to launch on October 26 and will be priced at $199 (Nope that is not a typo). It seems that Microsoft is trying to get in to the latest tablet trends which is more power for a lower price. But Microsoft is stepping up the game by pricing the Surface RT at $199. At that price it can be compared with the Nexus 7, Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet. Although the Hardware in the Surface RT might not be that perfect it is still more bigger and can be more productive than any other tablet at that price point. This will then catch a lot of attention from consumers and people who want more power for less. This might just drive sales of the Surface RT off charts and will make other tablets obsolete or it might just end up being a big loss for Microsoft. Personally, it think if Microsoft really price the Surface RT at $199 many people will get it, just take the Nexus 7 fo instance it broke Google's expectations. This proves that Consumers love cheap products which perform very well.

Microsoft Surface Tablet Will Officially Launch On October 26 With Windows 8

Last month Microsoft announced their very own tablet called Surface. This tablet brought many reactions by consumers, one of the reactions were "the first real tablet which can compete with the iPad". Windows 8 is launching on the 26 of october and now microsoft has confirmed that the surface will be launching on the same day. In my opinion i think that the surface is a very good tablet and is better than the iPad in many ways on of the way it is better is the productivity it can give to users.
“In fall 2012, we are launching Windows 8...Its success depends on a number of factors including the extent to which customers embrace its new user interface and functionality, successfully coordinating with our OEM partners in releasing a variety of hardware devices that take advantage of its features, and attracting developers at scale to ensure a competitive array of quality applications. We expect to incur substantial marketing costs in launching Window 8 and associated services and devices, which may reduce our operating margins."
