Test BlackBerry 10 On Your iOS Or Android Device

With the launch of BlackBerry 10 last week, the Z10 was also launched and is now on sale in limited markets. Well what if you want to try the BB10 experience now but the device is not on sale in your region and you are left only with your iOS or Android device to play with. Well BlackBerry has a solution for that. With that, they have partnered with Blippar an AR app in iOS and Android which will allow you to try BB10 on your device's web browser. All you have to do is head over to the Blackberry page on your computer or separate device and on the blippar app on your phone and scan the screen and within seconds you will be redirected to the BB10 OS. At the time of making this i was unable to use the demo and it was stuck at the splashscreen. Join the conversation on this at our facebook page and i'll post some screenshots of it on our facebook page when the demo is working.

BlackBerry 10 SuperBowl Ad Shows You What It Can't Do

Well Superbowl has started and BlackBerry has just showed off their 30 second ad which is really very weird indeed. The ad does not tell you what Blackberry can do but it tells you what BB10 can't do in that short 30 second commercial like making you go on fire. This is really on of the weirdest adverts i've ever seen. You can check out the video below.

BlackBerry 10 What Does It Mean, My Thoughts On The New Platform

Today we feasted on the BlackBerry 10 and overall the launch event was very successful. Starting of with what i think on this launch. One thing which i think BlackBerry did right was changing their name from RIM to BlackBerry. This is key because they are now known as one brand and face it if you ask a normal consumer who is Research In Motion, they don't know a soul about it. So changing their name to BlackBerry was a pretty good move for them.

Then came the unveiling of the first two BB10 devices namely the Z10 & Q10 in which one is touch and the other one is the classic qwerty type. The Z10 is an interesting device as it was extensively leaked in the past month and i basically saw the full review of the device by TheVerge while Thorsten Heins was still demoing the phone. The Q10 in the other hand was demoed on stage briefly but the media and press were not allowed to have a hands on with the device so basically they were just filming the BlackBerry team holding the device. Additionally we learnt not that much about the Q10 all we know is that its a qwerty phone with a touchscreen and running BB10 thats all. Another thing which i felt about the Z10 is that at first when Thorsten Heins was talking about it on the event live i thought that this might just work.

Until I saw the full review by TheVerge, it changed my mind by a bit and a few hours ago image comparisons of the Z10 went online and the results is that the 8MP camera on it is amongst the weakest in the flagship smartphone category. But overall i felt very intrigued with the OS which has no home button and all you have to do to navigate the OS is a swipe up and you are done. I was also impressed with BBM which can now do video call to other BBM users and also for the first time natively on a mobile device you could share your screen. This feature may not be a big impact for us consumers but for enterprise users it sure will help. One thing which i like about BB10 is it has a built in microHDMI port which is pretty useful in times and also present on the device is a microSD card which can be pretty useful in times.

In the OS itself what i like about it is BlackBerry Flow which demonstrates true multitasking with programs running on the fly even though you minimize it. Probably the thing i like about BB10 most is the keyboard which i am pretty stoked to try because the videos i watched about BB10 was praised in the keyboard being very good in predicting words. Overall this is a very big step for RIM and like the saying goes its not too late to start over. I'm not so sure what the consumer response on BB10 will be only time will tell. As Thorstein Heins said this is just the starting and they still have a long way to go. Stay tuned for more editorials on BB10 in the coming days.

Blackberry Z10 Vs iPhone 5, Another Video Leak

Next week RIM is going to pull the wraps off BB10 and they are set to announce 2 devices alongside the launch of the new platform. In this few weeks coming up to the launch the Z10 is the most leaked device which led up to this comparison video against the iPhone 5. To recap the Z10 has a 4.2" screen with a 720P resolution which translates into a 356PPI, an 1800mAh battery is also present. In this comparison video they compare siri vs the all new BB voice, the result is that siri got smoked. Again in the next round the BB10 browser smoked the one in the iPhone 5. Watch the video below to find out more, stay tuned for our coverage of the launch next week.

Blackberry 10 Touch Device UI Leaked, Taking Tricks From iOS & Android

Leaks of BB10 are starting to come out now and we continue the leaks with some leaked screenshots of the user interface of the OS. In these screenshots there are many things covered like stock app, third party apps like facebook, and everything in between. First up is the home screen UI which looks a bit like symbian on the bottom and looks to have an iOS like grid of icons. The screenshots also show the multitasking gestures by swiping to the left to reveal recent apps. The dialer and phonebook look to be pretty standard with nothing special in sight. The built in file manage looks to be able to do some pretty good managing. There also seems to be a pull down quick shortcuts menu accompanied with a right swiping notification page. The third party apps like facebook an foursquare looks pretty standard with not extras. An finally there is also a voice assistant which looks a bit like S Voice. To look at more screenshots hit the source link below.

Sneak Peak Of The BlackBerry 10 Keyboard For L Series Devices

RIM is set to debut BB10 on the end of January next year but until then we will just have to wait patiently. Following last week's teasing of BB10 on the official site, there is now an official video talking briefly about the BB10 keyboard on the full touch device. In the video they highlight the main keyboard features which are a smart personalised dictionary, auto spacing and auto detection for language switching. The keyboard layout for the touch devices will be the same as the ones with the physical qwerty keyboard.
