Microsoft Trying To Get Us To User Internet Explorer Again With "Child Of 90's" Ad

In Windows one of the most unused app is internet explorer. Not too long ago people were not using chrome, safari nor firefox, they were using internet explorer because at that time it was fast and fluid. With the time passing the status also changed but IE is still the most used web browser but only now with lowers market share. Microsoft is striving to get back our attention with this new ad entitled "child of the 90's". It basically explained to us how life then was and urging us to continue using internet explorer like last time.

Ever since the Lumia 920 launched we have seen quite a number of ads by Nokia and Microsoft. Overall these ads do help the public visibility of the device. Well here is a fan made ad done by Phong Luong as part of his 3rd semester final project at school. His video features the Lumia 920 and some of its amazing features. Overall i can relate this video with the HTC 8X launch promo video. Check out the video below, its a very nicely done video.

The HTC Infobar A02 Is A Carrier Specific Device, A UI Like No Other

The carriers in Japan are always having some exclusive smartphones like the Galaxy S III Alpha and others. When it comes to carrier branded however, the carrier is basically asking the manufacturer to build the phone according to what the carrier sees fit. Well here is something out of the au by KDDI carrier. They are calling this the Infobar A02 made by HTC. The device is carrier specific and on the device there is no HTC branding whatsoever. At first sight you will think that what the hell is that, then if you examine closer then you would know that it is running android with the sight of the familiar three softkeys and taskbar on the top. The specs of this very carrier specific smartphone is a 1.5GH Snapdragon S4 pro processor, a 4" 720P screen, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, LTE, beats audio, an 8MP camera, and a 2.1 MP front facing camera. The exterior of the device looks very colorful and the UI of the phone is far from stock android with its crazy tile, magical animations and very animated transitions. As said this device is a carrier specific device so dont't hope on it getting out of Japan.

Introducing The HTC Mini, HTC's Solution To Big Phones

The mobile industry is continuing to grow and last year the average size for a flagship smartphone has yet gone up. Also with the introduction of the Galaxy Note line by Samsung they are also challenging other manufacturers to create bigger device. But one problem is still not solved which is people with small hands cant quite seem to hold big phones. Never fear cause HTC has got you covered (in china), they have apparently gone full on and created a companion device which will be bundled with the HTC Butterfly in china. The device is called the HTC mini and has NFC/bluetooth connectivity to perform such tasks. It basically is your second phone and connects through NFC. It can do things like take calls, view notifications, help take photos and many more. Additionally it can also be a remote control for your TV. One pretty nifty feature is the phone locator which will help you find your full size big phone by ringing it. This is really a very wild idea of HTC but overall it seems pretty well thought of , we'll just have to see how this goes. Who knows this could be a start of a popular trend.

Galaxy Note 8.0 Leaks Again, This Time Featuring The S Pen

The Galaxy Note 8.0 got leaked yet again a few moments ago, practically my whole facebook news feed was surrounded by the images. Ok back to business, it seems that the leaks for the Note 8.0 is not stopping. Today we finally get a look at the S Pen for the Note 8.0. It looks like the normal one but who knows maybe Samsung has done something with it. If you see the image above the Note 8.0 dwarfs the Note II. And one thing i never noticed about yesterdays leak is that the device has a earpiece on the top and there is also an icon for the telephone.

Top Smartphone Of 2012

We are nearing the end of the first month of 2013, and as promised we are bringing you the top smartphones of 2012. So without further ado lets get started with it. 2012 was a total change for the mobile era in the post PC era. Last year we were there to witness that fall and growth of companies like Nokia, Apple, HTC, Samsung, etc. But overall last year companies pumped out quite a lot of very intuitive and powerful devices for consumers.
#1 in the list is the Samsung Galaxy S III, although the Galaxy S III was not the best selling device of 2012 but it did take the crown for being the best selling android powered device of all time. The reason why Samsung was successful in selling millions of this device is because they really built a very good device from the ground up despite the ranters which say it is built with cheap parts. Overall it proves that if you have the perfect formula you too can have a world class best selling phone.
Coming up next is the iPhone 5 which is really the best iPhone Apple has ever made period. The iPhone 5 shows boundaries which Apple is yet to conquer and with this new iPhone they finally increased the screen size. Apple was also very successful in the iPhone 5 because they preserved the iPhone style there; meaning that i asked a few iPhone 5 users which previously owned iPhones and they said that the iPhone 5 is exactly like an iPhone. That is where apple was most successful. The iPhone 5 overall is a pretty good device and it really is one of the best mainstream phones out there.
The next in the list is the HTC One X which at the time of launching, the first quad core powered phone. Although HTC did not quite sell much of this phone to create records but they did create a phone which has a very good feel in the hand. The One X overall has one of the best built quality among android phones last year. Putting things back to perspective, the HTC One X still made our cut because of its camera and overall build quality which is seemingly above average.
Coming in next is the Optimus G which is by LG's record a very successful device indeed. The device even became the baseline for the 4th google phone dubbed the Nexus 4. This device is also the first device to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor in which that time was a very beast of a CPU. The Optimus G's design is truly amazing with the shimmering little dots on the back which gives that premium feel to it. Not to mention it also has a very good 13MP camera and that gorgeous screen which LG touts quite a lot a the launch. Overall i can say that LG has built a very solid and good phone but the software is still not close to what Samsung is giving users.
In the next run is the king of the phablets, the Galaxy Note II which has been a very successful. This device really defined what a phone and tablet was bridging the gap between the two and bringing productivity to something which fits right into your pocket. The Galaxy Note lineup also redefined the screen max screen size of phones which are seemingly getting bigger and also having big phones are also quite a trend in asian countries. The reviews for the Note II is also seemingly good and overall, i would still recommend this device to buy if you want a powerful and productive device and you dont care about the screen.
Coming in right after the kind of phablets is the Nokia Lumia 920 which is in my eyes the best looking device out there now. The Lumia 920 was launched in late 2012 and brought to the table quite a number of new innovations like optical image stabilization on mobile phones, a supersensitive screen, and etc. The Lumia 920 was also the first device to start the trend of wireless charging which is now on quite a number of device. This is also the pioneer of the Windows Phone 8 ecosystem and the sales of it are pretty good with retailers not having stock. But despite all of the good comments the Lumia 920 it still is very bulky and heavy to some people that is why i did not place it in the third position.
Coming in the last is the Asus PadFone 2 which is a pioneer in the new hybrid category. Not to mention the PadFone 2 is actually a pretty beastly device with specs similar to the Optimus G and the Nexus 4. The design and specs of the PadFone 2 is really majestic with every thing thought of like how you dock the phone to the tablet dock. This closes up the top smartphone of 2012 list. I would like to say out also why the Nexus 4 did not make the cut, it is because the Nexus 4 is basically the Optimus G fully unlocked and supported by Google. 2012 has been an exciting and fun year for the mobile industry. Catch our top smartphones of 2013 next year at around this time also. So until then thank you and bye bye.

Exynos 5 Octa Official Product Image Released, 8 Cores Of Raw Power

Earlier this month at CES, Samsung debuted the Exynos 5 octa processor which is headed for 2013 flagship device. The new mobile chip by Samsung is based on ARM's big.LITTLE concept in which 4 cores are A7 and 4 cores are A15. That overall translates into the A15 cores doing the heavy jobs and the A7 cores doing the minimal tasks. The first device which set to use the chip is the Galaxy S IV. Samsung has released a full image of the chip which gives us a sense of power just by looking at it.

Nokia Confirms The Discontinuation Of Symbian

Last year at MWC 2012, Nokia unveiled what is still the best camera smartphone in the market currently. The 808 pureview with its awesome camera was at that time said to be one of the last symbian devices to be ever produced. But now with Nokia fully transitioning and focusing on Windows Phone they have officially confirmed that Symbian is discontinued which means that the 808 Pureview is the last of its kind and thus discontinuing the OS. Symbian has been around for about 2 decades and is one of the pioneers in the smartphone shaping how our smartphones looked like today. To me personally this is a very sad moment because symbian is actually a very good and solid OS but there is no adoption whatsoever.
During our transition to Windows Phone through 2012, we continued to ship devices based on Symbian. The Nokia 808 PureView, a device which showcases our imaging capabilities and which came to market in mid-2012, was the last Symbian device from Nokia.
As the Saying goes, all good things have to end

Samsung Planning To Ship 10 Million Galaxy S IV Each Month After Its Launch

Well here is something very ambitious, it seems that Samsung is planning to ship 10 million Galaxy S IV's per month. This is somehow a bit too ambitious as they are trying to do the unthinkable, its like mission impossible. For the first month then i could understand but the months following it then its a bit unbelievable. Additionally the report also revealed that Samsung has ordered its subcontractors to produce a about 10 million units of the Galaxy S IV per month. The same report also revealed Samsung's plan to sell over 500 million phones this year, they are also expected to increase the screen size for their tablets with newer introductions.

We have heard quite a lot about the 8 inch Galaxy Note in the past days and we have all of the info like specs and the leaked image. The leak today shows the Note 8.0 in action. Nokia Has A Profitable Quarter With $585 Million In Profit, Breaking The Curse

Today is Januray 24th and it is the day in which Nokia reveals their quarterly earnings. Overall the results are positive with $585 million in profit on a 10.73 million quarterly revenue. This breaks the negative profit chain which has been hitting Nokia for 6 quarters in a row. But the bad news is still not ending as its return to a profitable quarter is mainly because of the success of their Nokia Siemens network which brought in quite a bulk of their total income. Additionally the YoY mobile growth dropped by 74% which is from 335.6m to 86.3; not just that, their smart devices sales also dropped by 81% which is from 35.1m to a mere 6.6m. Their average selling price for smart device and WP device also rose in which is also a factor. The bad news ends with Nokia will not be paying the shareholders dividens this year despite their profitability.
"We are very encouraged that our team’s execution against our business strategy has started to translate into financial results. Most notably we are pleased that Nokia Group reached underlying operating profitability in the fourth quarter and for the full year 2012. While the first half of 2012 was difficult for Nokia Group, in Q4 2012 we strengthened our financial position, improved our underlying operating margin in Devices & Services, introduced the HERE brand to expand our mapping and location experiences, and drove record profitability in Nokia Siemens Networks. We remain focused on moving through our transition, which includes continuing to improve our product competitiveness, accelerate the way we operate and manage our costs effectively. All of these efforts are aimed at improving our financial performance and delivering more value to our shareholders."Nokia CEO Stephen Elop
