Samsung Indirectly Showcasing The Galaxy S IV Screen At CES 2013

As expected, Samsung did not debut the Galaxy S IV at CES this year. But one thing they did showcase is news processors and new displays which will be used in 2013. It does not take a genius to figure out that these parts are bound to be part of the Galaxy S IV. Take for example the exynos 5 octa, Samsung launched it and it is sure to be first used on the Galaxy S IV the similar thing happened last year with the exynos 4 quad which was announced 3 months before the Galaxy S III launch. Here is something that Samsung did not quite highlight, which is their FHD screen which has a 440PPI and measures in at 4.99". And as said it does not take a genius to figure out that this will be used in the Galaxy S IV. So stay tuned for this the next episode of rumor roundup which will come at the end of this week.

Then came the big one which was from Samsung in which they unveiled two new high end TV sets and one of them has an all new never seen before TV design. Later in the day it was Sony's turn and they dropped the bomb and announced the Xperia Z & ZL which was just two very magnificent looking devices. The day ended with Qualcomm's CES 2013 opening keynote which they are replacing Microsoft for the first time this year. Both of the devices will be running stock android in which one is 4.7" and the other is 5". The 4.7" one has a 720P screen whereas the 5" one (you guessed it) has a 1080P resolution. Nvidia Officially Announces The Tegra 4

As expected, Nvidia today has officially announced their next gen Tegra processor dubbed the Tegra 4. They are calling the Tegra 4 the world's fastest mobile processor period. As leaked a few weeks back, the Tegra 4 has a 4+1 cores paired up with 72 GPU cores and is the world's first cortex A15 quad core processor. The Tegra 4 is also built on the 28nm manufacturing processor which makes it more efficient. There is a downside of the Tegra 4, which is that it does not have an integrated LTE chip. Which means it needs a third party chip to aid in LTE connectivity, that solution will come later in the year. The new chip not only increases gaming performance but can make instant HDR photos. Linking to today's keynote, Nvidia also announced Project Shield which will be built around the Tegra 4 processor

Corning Showcasing Gorilla Glass 3 & Optical Thunderbolt Cables At CES Next Week

Late last year Corning announced the second generation Gorilla glass dubbed Gorilla Glass 2. The second generation was said to be more break proof and significantly thinner to accommodate smartphones this generation. Today Corning in an official press release has revealed that they will be showcasing the third gen gorilla glass next week at CES. The third iteration of the glass is expected to be even tougher than its predecessors and it is said to be improved at the molecular level and incorporating a proprietary feature called Native Damage Resistance. This feature reduces the doubling of flaws so the look of the scratches does not affect the integrity of the glass. Other than that Corning is also set to feature Optical Thunderbolt cables next week at CES in their booth. These Thunderbolt cables are like any other thunderbolt cables but in the core is fibre optics which enables longer cables to be produced.

PRESS RELEASE
Corning to Showcase Latest Glass Technologies for
Consumer Electronics at CES 2013

Introducing Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3 and Optical Cables by Corning
CORNING, N.Y. - Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) today announced its plans for the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next week. The Corning booth, #14813 Central Hall, will highlight the company's newest specialty glass solutions and their benefits for today's consumer electronics device trends.
Corning plans to introduce two new products at CES 2013: Corning® Gorilla® Glass 3, a new glass composition with durability enhancements; and Optical Cables by Corning, fiber-based, device-to-device connectivity solutions that significantly extend the data transmission range past the limits of copper-based cables. Full product details will be included in announcements planned for Monday, Jan. 7.
"This year at CES, Corning will demonstrate its industry leadership in specialty glass and fiber optic technologies with the introduction of two products designed to enhance and extend the capabilities of consumers' favorite devices," said Wendell P. Weeks, chairman, chief executive officer, and president. "These new innovations build on the increasingly important and continually evolving role of highly engineered glass technologies in delivering improved product performance and functionality through touch capabilities, protective cover glass, and device connectivity."

In the Corning booth, experts will be on hand to discuss and present hourly demonstrations of the toughness of Gorilla Glass 3 as well as the connectivity and flexibility of Optical Cables by Corning. The booth will also showcase the benefits of Corning Gorilla Glass in larger format, multi-touch displays for education, entertainment and other applications.
