It has been like a rollercoaster ride for the mobile industry for this past years. First we see the rise of android and iOS and then iOS starts going down and coming back again and RIM slips off and so does nokia. We are at about the end of the year 2012 and this year there is strong growth of Android and Windows Phone became the fastest growing mobile OS but their market share is still very low. In Q3 many things happened, for example the Galaxy S III is the first phone ever to outsell the iPhone and that is a major achievement. Above is a chart which shows the top ten smartphone manufacturers. At the top of the list is Samsung and then followed by Apple, they both still hold their place from the previous quarter. Nokia however is the worst as it went from 3rd to the bottom of the list at 10th. Huawei however managed to lock the 3rd place by shipping over 16 million smartphones, that is a major achievement for a China based company. Thing might change in Q4 as all of the big guns have been released.
