Intel is launching their i7 3970X in Q4 2012 to replace the current flagship i7 extreme processor the i7 3960X. Now a newer leak shows a ivy bridge i7 extreme processors which is the i7 4900. Back to the i7 3970X, it is based on the sandy bridge architecture, has 6 cores and 12 threads, clocked at 3.5GHz with a turbo of 4GHz, 15MB of L3 cache and the processor will be priced at $999 USD. Moving to the ivy bridge i7 extreme processor which is based on intel's 22nm 3D tri gate transistor codnamed ivy bridge. These ivy bridge processors will be featured in Computex 2013 and the lineup consists of the i7 4930, 4960, 4970 and a 4990 which is the flagship model. DDR3-1866 will be compatible with all of these processor on the LGA 2011 socket.
