Nokia Reveals The Secret Of Their Maps Service

Nokia Maps is one of the least popular maps service but if you don't know 4 out of 5 standalone GPS systems are using their maps. Just recently a few other companies like Amazon and Oracle has singed deals with nokia to utilise their maps. Also recently in the paris auto show a few major car manufacturers has announced that they will be using Nokia maps to power their built in GPS systems. Nokia Maps is one of the best maps out there now but ever wondered what makes it so good. Nokia has finally revealed how they keep their maps updated. The answer is UPS and FedEx, Nokia is using these mailing companies to get the locations of every single place. "with Google's driven 5 million miles in street view cars, UPD drives 3.3 billion miles a year". Nokia's senior VP or location said that they got over 12 billion probe date points per month coming into the organization. This all translates to up to date map data. They added that in 2012 they have used GPS data they received to identify 65000 rood segments. Click here to read more.
