One of the last things Apple announced today at their special event in California is the iPad. They did an unexpected move by launching the iPad 4 which is beyond the speculation. The iPad 4 is a supercharged iPad 3 with the same specs but the hardware has been vastly improved. It now has an A6X chip and the new lightning connector. More LTE frequencies are supported by the iPad 4 so now you can run LTE on T-Mobile's LTE network. Pricing for the iPad 4 is similar to the iPad 3 and will replace the iPad 3. Then just in a blink of an eye Phil Schiller shows the iPad Mini which has a 7.9" screen and a 1024 X 768 resolution and is a non retina display. Phil describes it as a thin and light device which is capable of one handed holding. It is just 7.2mm thin and over 53% lighter than a standard iPad. It comes in black and white and packs the A5 processor in it. Phil also did a brief comparison of the iPad Mini with the Nexus 7 and points out some pretty interesting facts. All in all the iPad Mini can still have that 10 hour battery life. They also have a new smart cover for it which wraps more to the whole body. The base model comes in at $329 for the 16GB wifi, whereas the cellular 16GB model is at $459. The wifi model will start shipping on November 2 and the cellular model will ship on the 9th of November. Pre orders for the iPad 4 and iPad Mini will start on Friday October 26.
