Yesterday we reported that Apple will not be certifying future products with EPEAT environmental certification. Then today apple withdraw that statement and replied by saying it was a big mistake. This then created some buzz which may have triggered apple's choice of dropping EPEAT environmental certification. Bob Mansfield, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering, had the following statement to make:
We’ve recently heard from many loyal Apple customers who were disappointed to learn that we had removed our products from the EPEAT rating system. I recognize that this was a mistake. Starting today, all eligible Apple products are back on EPEAT.
This means that federal agencies will now be eligible to use apple products. Apple might be doing this because if they do not certify their products with EPEAT some people will not be buying some of their future products like the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini because it does not meet environmental standards.
