Yesterday we reported that the Nikon Coolpix S800c will be announced this week and today Nikon officially announced it. This camera has a 16MP BSI CMOS sensor, 10X optical zoom, 1080p video recording with stereo sound, a 3.5" OLED touchscreen, an ECPEED C2 processor, GPS and WiFi. This is also Nikon's first android powered camera and Android 2.3 Gingerbread comes preinstalled. The android preinstalled on this camera has two modes, one of them is the camera mode which functions the same as a normal touchscreen camera. The second mode is android mode which is the camera turns into a android device and you can do all your normal things on this like it were a android device. One problem found is that if you want to snap a picture when in android mode you can't just click the shutter button and take an image you need to switch to camera mode to take pictures. With android on this camera you can share your images to your social networks or edit it with some photo editing apps all that without leaving your camera. Nikon also added a feature which enables you to transfer pictures from this camera to an android device via the app provided by Nikon in the play store (Coming soon to the App Store). The app enables your camera to sync the pictures via wifi to your android device and can be viewed in the gallery. This camera will be available by this month for a suggested retail price of $349.95.
